Slow Science Hikes is a Young Academy hiking group offering academic staff an opportunity to meet and chat in a relaxed, interdisciplinary setting. Every two months, we get together in the vicinity of a Dutch university and go for a walk of between 10 and 20 kilometres. Anyone employed at a Dutch academic institution is welcome to join us. Research funding bodies are increasingly funding transdisciplinary research, but setting up such research and carrying it out is complicated. The Young Academy is bringing together the views of stakeholders, in order to identify the obstacles involved. Children are scientists by nature. The best way to introduce them to the world of science is to put them to work and let them do real research. In the fall of 2018 De Jonge Akademie launched an interactive platform titled 'The Living Room of Science' for generating, gathering and sharing knowledge on responsible research practices across all research disciplines. Read more about Living Room of Science
