We say less than we think we do

How our brain processes spontaneous conversations. Tuuk, Daak and Fosmij: Dutch words that may not sound familiar but are used everyday. This is how we often pronounce Natuurlijk 'of course', Dadelijk 'directly' and Volgens mij 'according to me'.

There is a big difference between how language is formally pronounced, and how words sound in everyday conversation. Yet we understand each other perfectly. How does that work? Linguist Mirjam Ernestus uses math to understand how our brain processes language.
