David Lentink (1975) is fascinated by flying and swimming. How do animals do that?
The combination of exact sciences (biology, technology, design) and social sciences (psychology) makes his research unique. He discovered that the twirling seeds of maple trees, just like insects and bats, create extra lift thanks to a strong vortex above the wing. His work has been featured on the cover of the leading journals Science and Nature. Lentink's team was awarded the 2010 Academic Annual Prize for the ‘Vliegkunstenaars’ project.
