Mirjam Ernestus (1969) is a psycholinguist who conducts research at the interface of the humanities and the social sciences.

Her research focuses on how speakers and listeners deal with spontaneous speech, in which words are often pronounced only partly (for instance, “yeshay” for “yesterday”). Moreover, Ernestus investigates the organization of our mental lexicon. Ernestus collaborates with linguists, psychologists, automatic speech-recognition experts and communication scientists. In 2006 she received a European Young Investigator award, in 2011 an ERC consolidator grant, and in 2012 an NWO vici grant.
