Reuven Agami (1965) is researching treatments for cancer. Radiation and chemotherapy can be used to kill cancer cells thanks to a complex system of proteins.

Agami is systematically investigating this mechanism. He is also developing new technologies and thus contributing to more effective treatment of types of cancer that re-occur after treatment. Since 2001, he has been in charge of his own research group at the Netherlands Cancer Institute. In 2004 Agami won an EURYI Award as one of Europe's best young researchers. In 2008 he became a section leader at the division of Gene regulation at the Netherlands Cancer Institite.
