Recently, Japan has launched its own Young Academy. The Young Academy of Japan resorts under the Science Council of Japan.
The Young Academy of Japan will primarily be involved in two kinds of activities: social and scientific.
Social activities include proposing activities to be initiated by young scientists, enhancing industry, government, and NPO collaboration, promoting science communications, and participating in the Global Young Academy. Scientific activities include gathering the opinions of young scientists, facilitating presentations on important issues by young scientists, expanding interdisciplinary and other exchanges among young scientists, and providing opportunities to exchange and form connections with members of young academy associations worldwide. Moreover, the Young Academy of Japan will address both domestic and international issues, while cultivating and encouraging international achievements by young scientists.
Currently 27 scientists from a wide variety of fields ranging from 30 - 45 years of age are members of the Young Academy of Japan.
