Wim van Westrenen (1973) conducts research in the fields of petrology and geochemistry.

His work is of an interdisciplinary nature and he collaborates closely with colleagues in the fields of chemistry, physics and earth sciences. Van Westrenen has been able to establish his own research group after winning a prestigious EURYI Award to study the evolution of the interior of the Moon in 2006. He is one of only two earth scientists who have been awarded this European Science Foundation prize for young researchers.
